The beauty of science

I know I am a little late to hop on the band wagon but I don’t care. Earlier this month the Kepler Space Telescope was scanning the sky and found one of the most amazing and awe inspiring sights to date. The Kepler Space Telescope found 1,235 extra solar planets, 54 of which were in the habitable zone of stars. In just the remote region of the sky that we have studied for extra solar planets there have been at least 54 suitable for life, yet there are people who still persist in the delusion that we are the only life in the universe. We must grow up and expand our horizons. This truly is a huge leap in the search for life in the universe.
Our Earth. Our one small speck is just 1 out of 1,235 other plants in our neighborhood of the galaxy. And we have only just begun our search yet the results we have received are amazing. We have only scanned the smallest part of our own galaxy. Our one galaxy out of 200 billion other galaxies each with hundreds of billions of stars. We live on a rock orbiting one star, out of 400 billion other stars in our galaxy. We are so massively insignificant as a species yet we have the mental capacity to comprehend the awe that is the cosmos and that, is the beauty of science.

This video was my inspiration
